What was daily life like in the Georgia colony?
Daily life for colonial Georgia was centered around the home and farm, as they were isolated from other people in Georgia and from the rest of the colonies. Georgia initially was a community of small farmers, but grew quickly in later years. Daily life was not easy for the Georgians, when the original 144 settlers were in Georgia they suffered from a insect plague. Life in early colonial Georgia was harsh and difficult. Fresh water was hard to find, swampy land bred disease-bearing insects, attacks by Indians and Spaniards killed many settlers and Georgia's trustee rule allowed no political freedom for colonial laborers. The colony nearly failed within its first year, although it struggled on until 1754, when the trustee rule ended and a royal governor was appointed.
